Introduction: Effective managers are referred to who take advantages of their potential emotion capacities and make effective and constructive relations. In fact, successful managers focus on enhancing emotional intelligence and emotional nurturing capabilities. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand and correctly identify emotions in self and others as they are, The ability to use emotions to helping solve problems and Have an effective life, Ability to maintain motivation, Resistance against mild adverse, Setting the mood and Empathy with others, Therefore this study has surveyed the impact of emotional intelligence on the skills of effective managers.
Methods: In this descriptive-analytical study, census method was used with all managers in Red Crescent societies in provinces of Fars, Bushehr and Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad (n=153). Data collection tools included demographic characteristics, Standardized questionnaire, was of emotional intelligence in the five dimensions(Subscale individual capabilities consists of self- awareness, self-regulation and motivation, and Subscale social capabilities consists of empathy and social skills) and Standard questionnaires effective management skills. Reliability and validity of the questionnaire was reviewed and approved. Data were analyzed by using software SPSS-21 and descriptive and inferential statistical methods.
Findings: There were significant differences between gender levels in emotional intelligence and the levels also in effective managers skill there was an significant difference between levels of work experiences(p<0.05). All aspects of emotional intelligence had a significant positive correlation with effective management skills, Emotional Intelligence with correlation coefficient (r=0.55, p<0.01) had relatively strong and significant positive correlation with the skills of effective managers. Based on hierarchical multiple linear regression analysis with stepwise method, the dimension of self-awareness (Beta= 0.43), empathy (Beta= 0.2) and social skills (Beta= 0.3) of emotional intelligence had the most respectively significant predictive power for effective management skills (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Emotional intelligence with both dimensions of the social capability, i.e., empathy and social skills, and only with awareness dimension of the individual capability plays an important role in predicting the effective management skills. Therefore, to increase management skills, it is much better to do more planning for social capability and awareness.
