INTRODUCTION: AIDS disease is changing into an acute health and social problem. This paper aims to study the role of Red Crescent Society to control and prevent AIDS and HIV infection.
METHODS: In this descriptive research, the statistical population includes all people (about 222) who are covered by the educational, counseling and support activities and measures of the Red Crescent Society and its affiliated behavioral disease counseling centers in the four provinces of Kurdistan, Kermanshah, Golestan and Hamedan.
FINDINGS: According to the findings, the evaluation of the respondents about the role of the Red Crescent Society in the control and prevention of AIDS and HIV infection has been placed at a level higher than "average" (3.157 out of 5).
CONCLUSION: To improve Red Crescent Society place and its role, there should be a multidimensional view to AIDS and HIV infection control and prevention. Because of this, Red Crescent Society should have a systematic view and care about different supporting role to help patients to get compatibility with his or her disease, to get rid of isolation and also to have positive tendency toward the related organizations' functions.
