Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Identifying the effective factors in the participation rate of RCS volunteers can lead to more participation of the community. The aim of this study is to investigate the factors affecting the participation rate of RCS volunteers.
METHODS: In this research, qualitative research method was used. The statistical population was active and ordinary volunteers and the officials of the volunteer affairs of the RCS. In order to collect data, focused group discussions and semi-open questions were used.
FINDINGS: According to the findings, active volunteers have a goal-oriented view of participation and consider holding group meetings as an important factor to overcome the feeling of powerlessness. Passive volunteers have an instrumental approach to participation and raise transparency to increase trust. Active volunteers with a goal-oriented approach considered their extensive participation as a duty and considered their motivation to participate to satisfy their inner needs, while passive volunteers considered their non-participation as a result of weak management in the organization. Volunteers’ affairs officials believed that the need to participate in community should be institutionalized. In order to expand participation in a continuous and organized manner.
CONCLUSION: According to different views regarding voluntary participation, a dual function should be given to participation. That is, a method of training and awareness of volunteers to attend group meetings and participate in making decisions while sharing responsibility. Participation in the RCS is both an end and a desired goal.
