INTRODUCTION: The main purpose of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of RCS first aid and preparedness training courses for the personnel of the armed forces.
METHODS: In this descriptive and semi experimental study, all  the armed forces personnel across the country(680 people) who had completed training courses in their centers were surveyed using the muti stage cluster sampling method. According to the Cochran formula, 340 people were assigned to the control group and another 340 ones to the experimental group in the selected provinces. In addition, a researcher made questionnaire was prepared and adjusted based on the Kirkpatrick model to the collected data. Content validity (CVR=0.86) and reliability were confirmed using Cronbach's alpha (α=0.89). Data analysis was performed using SPSS-22 software and Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, and chi-square test.
FINDINGS: The results revealed that the RCS training courses significantly improved the attitude, knowledge, and performance of armed forces personnel. The mean attitude score in the experimental group, knowledge score and performance score were 4.1 (p<0.01), 4.0 (p<0.01), and 3.6 (p<0.01) respectively. In contrast, the control group had lower scores: attitude 2.8, knowledge 3.7, and performance 3.3. Additionally, the mean efficiency score in the experimental group was 3.2, slightly higher than in the control group (3.1), though this difference was less significant.
CONCLUSION: This results demonstrated that training courses significantly enhanced the attitude, knowledge, and performance of armed forces personnel, improving their preparedness for emergencies. The findings justify continued investment in these training programs and highlight the need for ongoing educational initiatives to sustain and enhance their effectiveness.
